Learn how to attach extra mount hardware to your Toor Knives sheath, including replacement posts, spacers, and retention screws, with step-by-step guidance.
Quick Answer
To attach extra mount hardware to your Toor knife sheath, use the included long posts and spacers to adjust the mounting depth, and swap the retention screw for a secure fit. The process takes a few minutes with basic tools.
Why Extra Mount Hardware Matters
Having spare mount hardware lets you switch between different carry styles or replace worn parts without buying a new sheath. The Extra Mount Hardware set from Toor is designed to fit all of our sheaths and mounts, so you can keep your setup flexible.
The included long posts and additional spacers give you more adjustability when mounting your sheath to a belt, MOLLE, or other platform. The extra retention screw is a handy backup for KYDEX® sheaths, ensuring your knife stays put.
What's in the Extra Mount Hardware Set
The set includes two long posts with additional spacers that fit all of our sheaths and mounts, plus an extra sheath retention adjustability screw that fits all of our KYDEX® sheaths. Note that the added spacers are not intended for leather sheaths, so if you carry a leather sheath, you'll need to stick with the original hardware.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Gather Your Tools: You'll need a Phillips screwdriver (or the appropriate hex key if your sheath uses hex screws) and a clean, flat work surface. Check your current mount screws to see which tool fits. Make sure you have the right tool before starting to avoid stripping screws.
- Remove the Existing Hardware: Unscrew the current posts or screws from your sheath mount. Keep the original hardware in a safe place in case you need it later. If the screws are tight, apply gentle pressure to avoid damaging the sheath. Work on a soft surface to prevent scratching the sheath.
- Add Spacers as Needed: Place the desired number of spacers onto the long posts to adjust the mounting depth. More spacers create a wider gap between the sheath and the mount, which can help with thicker belts or MOLLE webbing. Remember: the added spacers are not for leather sheaths. Test the fit with your belt or platform before tightening fully.
- Insert the Posts and Tighten: Insert the posts through the mount and sheath holes, then secure them with the screws. Tighten firmly but avoid over-tightening, which could strip the threads or crack the sheath. Check that the sheath is secure and doesn't wobble.
- Adjust the Retention Screw: If your KYDEX® sheath has a retention screw, use the extra screw from the set to adjust tension. Turn it clockwise to increase retention, counterclockwise to decrease. Test the draw to ensure the knife stays secure but is easy to access. Aim for a snug fit that holds the knife without excessive force.
