Swapped the rod out after about a year of heavy use and it threaded in like new, which is the whole reason I went with a replaceable one. Sparks are fat and hot even with cold hands.

The ferro-loop compatibility is spot on—it clicks into my knife sheath and hasn't budged through two weeks of hikes. Knowing the rod is replaceable takes away the guilt of actually using it hard, and the grip still feels solid even with wet hands.

The ferro-loop fit on my sheath is snug and secure, and the rod throws fat sparks on the very first strike. It's been through a week of wet camping and shows zero wear, which makes the replaceable core feel like a smart investment, not a gimmick.
